CS0971 - Award to Fell Utility Poles

This is an Independently Assessed qualification.

Type of Learner: These qualifications are ideally suited to the professional chainsaw user working in forestry and arboriculture. The Health Safety Executive guidance AFAG 805 recommends that the minimum level of adequate training for chainsaw operations (including aerial tree work, pruning and dismantling) must be confirmed by an independent
assessment, leading to a recognised certificate of competence in the relevant activities.

Qualification Overview: The core unit, (CS0960 Award in Chainsaws and Related Operations) covers the maintenance of the chainsaw including the recognition of safety features, chain sharpening, engine care and basic crosscutting of material. The subsequent units (CS0961 - CSO995) build up in complexity, e.g. felling of various sizes of tree or utility poles, pruning operations from within the tree canopy or dealing with wind-blown trees and dismantling.

What you need to do: Candidates will need to complete the core unit and any additional qualifications that are specific to their work. The assessments are practical with verbal questioning.
